Itโs been quite awhile since Iโve written for this page and Iโve missed you all so very much! Iโm just going to dive right back in with a great story! Oh! And say hi my newest best little buddy, โBrunoโ! โWhere the h*ll have I been?!?!โ About 2-3 days after Xmas 2020, I got an interesting job offer to build out an open-concept restaurant & bar in the heart of this flashy and newly minted $100 million dollar sports complex. Naturally, I jumped at the offer as I really like building anything from the literal ground up and as it turned out, my office was right above the ice, sporting floor to ceiling windows! I didnโt design that, but I definitely enjoyed the shit out of that view! Seriously, to spend all day watching amateur to semi-pro ice hockey while I work?, Sign me up!! And... in a nutshell that is where I spent the next 6 months! THE END> JK... This tale doesnโt end there! I was just 6 months into this new-build when one of my more trusted staffers dropped by my office with this aire of over-the-moon excitement in her eye! She clambered right through the door exclaiming, โI have amazing news!!! I found you a new job!!!โ. Admittedly, I was burning my candle pretty hard at the sports complex... Particularly, I was tiring of the politics. Of course to a certain degree, politics are present in any business; that said - Iโve rarely had much issue with โoffice politicsโ in the past as my track record of consistently turning a profit has historically pushed me somewhat ahead (or at least out of harms way...) of the โusualโ inter-office politics. Nevertheless, I found her exuberance to be entertaining and absolutely genuine... lol! (I had no idea you could simply replace your boss??... HA!) Before working for me and prior to the pandemic, this server (weโll call her โMโ...) used to work at one of the larger comedy clubs in this city. Apparently, she heard through the grapevine that the owners were on their way to shop for a new General Manager to direct the re-opening of their club. (Seriously now - who could say no to that?!?!) Not I!!! I had M do a little recon to find the ownerโs email to which I sent a note right away! Now... To everyone who has struggled in finding the right words when applying for a job or sending a follow-up email, know that the more genuine and personable you are - the better off youโll be. That doesnโt mean you lose the formality or speak with a false sense of familiarity, but you donโt want to come off like a robot either. Youโre a person - He/She is also probably a person. Start there! I canโt remember the exact words I used, but I can tell you that there was nothing complicated in my email, nor was it a novel-length plea for an interview. I simply shared the cliff-note version quip of how M told me about the opportunity and despite that in likelihood I was late to this conversation, I was highly qualified for the position and genuinely excited to learn more about their comedy club. That was literally it and to my absolute delight, the owner responded almost immediately! We spoke twice over the phone over the next three days and just three weeks later I found myself with a key to the building, access to the former GMโs computer. If that all sounds like it came easy, think again... lol! I may have had a key and a computer, but I also had no employees or line managers, no inventory, no menu and that former managerโs trusty computer crashed on day 2. I did have a full schedule of shows already on the books and a Grand Opening date just 4 weeks away! Believe me, I could definitely go on... Iโve learned so much over the last two years, Iโm bursting to share these experiences will all of you! Iโll save you the torment and say, โThis comedy club, my sexy friends... is where Iโve been> โBut where are we going from here?!?!โ Well... as it turns out; my fan base here has actually grown quite a bit despite not having written much in nearly 2 years! Especially when starting out, results can often be slow...๐ I can appreciate why it would seem advantageous to try to ๐ฅธ sidestep the customary 2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ% commission that goes to OnlyFans. We go on the defensive... focusing on saving coins ๐ช rather than making money... ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐBut this is a losing strategy! โ ๏ธ I'd like to offer another path... ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ The national average profit margin for a typical bar or restaurant in the US is 9-11%. ๐ That's considered a successful return in the industry. With OnlyFans, your margin is 80%!!! ๐คฏ That's incredible by comparison! ๐ค If we're going to make good on the pledge to run our OnlyFans pages like a "business", we need to accept that sometimes we need partners๐ค in order to be successful. Think of OnlyFans as your new Business Partner.๐ค๐ค They offer you the network, platform, resources and nearly unlimited creative license in exchange for 20% of your earnings. Not a bad deal, if you ask me! ๐ค The problem with selling content via 3rd party services such as VENMO is it forces your Fans to adapt to a new system. ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ Additionally, you have to incentives them to adapt which often means lowering your prices.๐ The question becomes: "Would you rather make 80% of $100 or 100% of $80?" ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ One key driver to success is driving traffic๐๐๐ to your page. Fundamentally, youโre undercutting ๐ your business to send your customers to another service, regardless of the lower commission. The nature of OnlyFans' commission structure is effective because paying more money to OnlyFans also means that you've made more money, yourself. So... Which would you rather? Considering how many revenue streams ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐๐ปโโ๏ธare already readily available to monetize your most personal content, it's curious why OnlyFans would offer the option to charge subs for responding to DMs. ๐ง โBuyer beware... You could be shooting yourself in the foot if you abuse this feature.โ ๏ธ ๐๐ปโโ๏ธThink about it like this: The fundamental competitive advantage of using OnlyFans is to allow you, the model, to engage and interact with your Fans. ๐ With the subscription paid, It seems a bit redundant to charge for that one-on-one interaction... Doesn't it? For many models, isn't this a key benefit to subscribing in the first place? ๐ค "Subscribers receive.... daily uploads, HD Videos... one-on-one chat!" To be fair, it might make sense to toggle this feature on your ๐คFREE account if you're intention is to promote your๐ค PAID account as a benefit of subscribing. I'm not completely onboard with this ๐ถ play, but if you've already worked to build your fanbase, this could be an effective growth strategy for PAID subs. ๐ค๐ฐ๐คHowever, if you're just starting out, I'm not sure this is the route I would go... You want your Fans actively engaging with you! ๐ฃIncorporating a surcharge for direct communication, it completely counter-intuitive to site's fundamental purpose.๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ I've had this conversation with a few of you and I totally get that some guys just misbehave... ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ It's a terrible truth and at no time would I ever excuse that kind of behavior. ๐คข๐คฎI just think that this doesn't describe the majority, just an unfortunate few. | 17 Dec 2020 | ๐Getting The Most From This Holiday Season!!!๐๐ฐ ๐๐๐HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!๐๐๐ This is one my favorite times๐คฉ of the year and yet as a Content Creator, it can be one of the most challenging times of year๐. While consumer spending tends to go up โฌ๏ธ between November and January, "personal spending" inevitably takes a dive๐ as people focus their spending on gifts for other people. ๐๐๐ NOT TO WORRY!!! ๐ There is still plenty of opportunity to get the most out of the Holiday Season as a creator! ๐ค DISCOUNTS:๐ท I have a whole other post coming out about the different discount strategies out there and how to use them effectively.๐คซ. I'll tell you that I'm not a fan of discounts.๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ In fact, I generally discourage them and never would I EVER offer one without a clear purpose as to why... A discount without a clear purpose can ultimately de-value your content.๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ Even worse... When offered with regularity, not only do you diminish the value of your content, but you're conditioning your Fans to expect the price-drop. ๐ฑ๐ณ๐คญ Think:๐ค Why would I pay full price when I know the discount is around the corner?๐๐ปโโ๏ธ When used sparingly and with clear intent, discounts can be an invaluable tool๐ , but when abused they can do significant damage to your business...โ ๏ธโ๏ธโข๏ธ That being said, the Holidays are a magical๐ ๐งโ๐ time of year and total exception to that rule! โ๏ธ During the Holidays, you can basically offer whatever you want for whatever price you like without diminishing your value.โ๏ธ Your justifying your price as a gift for the Holidays. The assumption being, price will go right back up after the new year. With Holiday marketing, you need to pay careful attention to the message you project to your Fans. This is definitely NOT the time to raise your prices or sell "Exclusive". This is the time of year when you want to offer themed Holiday Content for a fraction of what you would normally charge. The specific rate is up to you, but you're trying to accomplish a couple things... 1.) Naturally we want to reward our current Fans for sticking around. Offering that value to your Fans now will come back in the form of loyalty and ultimately Fan retention. 2.) If your most valuable content is your most recent content, you want to pad your page with loads of new "Holiday Specific" content. This sends a message to your newest Fans that you're active and update frequently. Padding your page with Holiday content is important as it sets the stage for the next year. Once the new year passes, Holiday Content immediately drops off and we enter the "Post-Holiday Slump". That's why you can offer inexpensive holiday content in season. Believe me... this is not the time to focus on small sales. This is the time of year to set records in traffic! This brings me to... The Big Holiday Promotion! ๐ฅANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS!!!๐ฅ Yes! ๐ That's right! Many models offer this discounted subscription regularly. That's fine, but you want to be cautious not to let this key discount drown in a sea๐ of smaller, less valuable discounts. Another thing to consider is: If Annual subs are offered all the time, they're not rare... are they? And if they're not rare, they're not that valuable. ๐ For how many fans choose longer discounted subs, I would hold off on making that option available all year-round. (Just my two cents...) The ๐ key to offering this annual subscription exclusively during the holidays is that it keeps you're Fans around longer. It's a classic "Loss/Leader" strategy where you take a calculated loss on the overall subscription price while banking that these Fans will purchase more content throughout the year. This is a classic means of building your following. Now we're not done yet! Remember that Content Calendar? ๐ Once you've gotten mileage out of this year's Holiday-themed content, it's time to put it back to work! ๐ช I would schedule next year's Holiday campaigns now. โณ You have the materials handy... might as well get it out of the way?๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ I would run a "Throwback" campaign pushing last year's holiday content at a 50% discount in November. This sets up your new Holiday content for higher value, regardless of what price point you offer it at. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ If this is your first year selling exclusive content, this is great way to set yourself up for success long-term. For many of us, we approach the majority of the year thinking month-to-month. The Holidays are great time to train your brain to start thinking year-over-year. | 09 Dec 2020 | "The Magic of Scenes!"๐ฉ At what point does a "Clip" become a "Video"? ๐ง Is this actually written down somewhere? ๐ค I've noticed that many models seem to sell just as many, if not more clips than they do actual videos. Selling clips is very common and often a reactionary decision that stems from slower videos sales, especially in the beginning... When early video sales fall below expectations one of two things tend to happen: A:) We assume our video prices were set a bit too high. We drop our prices and hope for the best!๐ณ or B:). We start producing shorter clips at a lower price point. Effectively creating a cheaper alternative to our own product. ๐ญ The good news is there is another path!!! ๐ While there is no definitive rule as to how long a clip should be compared to a video, I would start by recognizing that clips aren't just shorter videos. ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ When sold individually, clips become low-cost alternatives to your more valuable full-length videos. Sales end up going down, not up... Alternatively, when clips are posted freely, they can become an invaluable promotional tool to sell your longer videos.๐ค Remember when we could all go to movie theaters to see the latest holiday blockbusters? ๐ ๐ What was it that brought us there? The :30-second Commercial!!! ๐ฌ Again, there is no definitive rule for how long clips have to be, but I would suggest that they be long enough to entice and short enough to not allow your Fans to... Eh... "Finish". ๐คซ What about shorter videos? Well, you can't really call a short video a "Video" without diminishing the value of your longer videos (again creating a lower-cost alternative...). Bundling videos is a widely used tactic to increase sales. Unfortunately, when you bundle two or more videos, what we tend to see is the averaged cost per video. (i.e. instead of seeing a 4-video bundle for $20, we see an average value of $5/per video.). ENTER: SCENES! ๐ค Scenes are magical! By definition, they are nothing more than shorter videos... But remember that presentation is everything in marketing! (Again, I would make it a general rule to never sell individual scenes...). However, when you splice shorter scenes together, you can call it a "compilation video". Compilation videos can be sold for the same price as your full-length videos without diminishing your value. Picture APPLE selling MacBooks vs. iPads... On the surface, it would seem like they should complete with each other. Instead, they're just catering to different tastes. BRILLIANT!!! ๐คฏ๐ "Do you prefer cake or pie?" APPLE doesn't care which one you buy, either way... Video??? ๐ค Earlier this week a Fan sent me a note asking for suggestions on how she might get more response from her longer videos.๐ง From what she said, she felt like she was nearly giving them away and yet her fans weren't really buying them like she imagined they would... As a result, she felt she needed to drop her price before anyone would buy. First of all, it's totally possible to sell larger videos without giving away the house... You just have to understand that it doesn't matter if you're into fitnessโน๐ป, music๐ถ, art๐จ, or exclusive adult content๐... we as people will always consume media in smaller doses๐. THAT'S THE KEY!!! ๐ What made this question tough to answer was that everyone seems to have a different idea of what constitutes a "Video".๐คจ I mean honestly, is there actually a place that definitively distinguishes the difference between videos and clips? ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธWhat about scenes???๐๐ปโโ๏ธ (I have my own idea of each and how they work together... Check my next post!)๐งโโ๏ธ To sell longer videos, I like to think of it this way: Could you imagine if the story of Harry Potter โก๏ธwas released and sold as one massive 20,000-page novel? ๐ I don't know any adults that would commit to reading a book of that size, never mind younger adults! ๐That's just a lot to commit to... Now... clearly, we all know that the series was broken into 7 books or "years". Not only did this make her books relatable and relevant to her younger audience, she also multiplied her sales 7X!! ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐThink about that... That's huge!!!๐ค Similarly, could you imagine if the entire Star Wars ๐ซ franchise was released all at once? It would be insane! ๐คฏ No one will commit to sitting through 18+ hours of any media ๐จโ๐ It doesn't matter how creative the story or how impressive the effects๐ง. We just won't do it! ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ Again, the questions is... can a video be too long? YES!!! Let's not forget ladies... most men are simply looking for a 10-15 minute tug... ๐๐๐ฆ If you're sending 60 minutes worth of content at once and you're following a standard pricing of $1/per minute, you're asking someone to commit $60 towards a video which 40-50 minutes worth could likely go unwatched. It's a lot to commit to for a quick "O". ๐ก๐ก๐กMY RECOMMENDATION: ๐ก๐ก๐กBreak your videos into smaller "parts"... In my experience, 2-3 parts are ideal, but ultimately it'll be entirely up to you and your Fans will let you know whether they approve or not... Personally, I would use the first "part" to sell the second - then the first two to promote the third... Yet again, this strategy hinges on how you define the length of a proper video... Trust me, how you define your videos can make or break your success on this platform. I see :03 second "Videos" priced at $25+ on several profiles. I see the price, but I'm dying to know the results some of you have seen... Listen, I'll be the first to say there is no, "one size, fits all..." for any part of this site or even in this business. If what you're doing is working, keep it up! I'm just saying... $20 x 3 is way more approachable than $60, once.๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ |
